About this Blog

I started this blog in January 2009 to collect and organize my thoughts on the intersection of science and society. This phrase is purposefully ambiguous, and I’ve posted on topics as eclectic as climate change, religion, race, history and philosophy of science, regulatory science, basic research and science literacy.

This blog builds on the extensive reading I’ve done in science studies, which encompasses the above topics and then some. All of this research has me convinced that there is much about science that scientists can and should learn from science studies. During grad school, I worked towards that goal by teaching this class, and I view my blog as an extension of those efforts. I would eventually like to serve as a discussion ground for scientists (which especially includes grad students) and experts in science studies.
